At Maison, the experience is designed to be thoughtful and immersive.

The classes are intentionally kept small, allowing for a higher level of attention and a more personalized focus on movement.

The pace of the studio is serene and precise. The necessary time is taken to move with control, disconnect, and connect with the practice.

At Maison, the experience is defined not only by the method, but by the way it is delivered: discreetly, attentively, and with intention.

About us

Maison was founded by Soojee Watman, a professional dancer with over 25 years of experience in Pilates. Her background brings a deep understanding of movement, discipline, and body awareness, shaping a precise and intuitive method.

Despite her years of rigorous training and discipline, Soojee found herself increasingly frustrated. She was pushing her body to its limits, working longer hours and taking on more intensive cross-training, all in pursuit of becoming "stronger". Yet, she was unable to achieve the physical balance she sought. She realized that her body was lacking the fundamental neuromuscular foundations, such as joint dissociation and efficient muscular organization. Without these basic building blocks, she had been over-compensating and living in a state of constant physical tension.

Determined to find a solution, Soojee immersed herself in the study of anatomy, biomechanics, and movement science. She discovered that true, lasting change would not come from simply pushing harder, but from cultivating a deeper understanding of how the body moves and functions optimally.

This revelation led Soojee to develop a teaching methodology that prioritized clarity, efficiency, and intelligent progression over sheer intensity and repetition. She applied this approach first with dancers, helping them build resilience without sacrificing ease of movement.

The Maison Pilates method she created cultivates a certain physicality - one of grace, power, and fluidity.

As word of Soojee's transformative work spread, people from all backgrounds, not just dancers, sought her out. They were drawn to the way her method facilitated sustainable results and a profound mind-body connection. Over time, the Maison Pilates approach expanded to support a diverse clientele in their pursuit of better movement, performance, and overall wellbeing.
